Lecture performance
Is this loss that I’m feelin’? is a lecture performance about the disappearing of images because of watermarks, a copyright technique used by stock photos services. Archive photos are considered as ruins where to wander and memes as new keys to reading, maps through which orient ourselves to read pictures, in order to diclose new regimes of sense.
Archive pictures starting content becomes obsolete through a process of analytic confront with the “Loss” meme. Considered in the internet culture as the best meme ever, Loss, being an archetype, owns a subversive power that goes beyond the signifier and that works on the infrastructure of visual production. The loss of information caused by watermarks is questioned, in this way, in its ideological root.
